Recently we celebrated our student’s accomplishment from Semester 1. It was a day of immense pride and joy for myself, as the Principal, alongside teachers and Kindred staff, to shine a spotlight on our student’s exceptional achievements not only in the academic realm but also in their personal lives.
Our students are more than just scholars; they are individuals with dreams, passions, and an undeniable spirit that propels them forward. Each one of them has a unique story to tell, a journey filled with triumphs, challenges, and personal victories. It is these stories that make our community truly remarkable.
A couple of important updates for you:
Attendance- We know attendance is linked to academic success. Last week we started rewarding students with excellence in attendance and this will continue throughout the school year. You might have also noticed a phone call or email sent home as well. This is for your records. Please note it is expected that a parent, guardian or independent student must call or text the school to let us know if you will not be in attendance for that day and the reason.
Lunch- We are happy to continue to provide lunch for students and their children. To be on the lunch list, students must call in by 9:30 am.
Daycare: Daycare hours are from 7:30 until 5:30. Please note, if you wish to use the daycare outside of school hours (8:30-3:30) please ensure you communicate this with the Learning Center. Unless you have arranged to stay after school with a teacher or a Kindred worker, it is expected students exit with their children at the end of the school day.
Tutorials: Tutorials are every Wednesday from 3:30 until 4pm. Teachers are flexible with this time. Please make an appointment directly with your teacher if you need extra help.
D2L Shells: Student please ensure you are checking D2L daily for any course work, teacher’s announcements and due dates. Checking this regularly as well as PowerSchool will help keep you on track.
Student Tours to Jack James High School: Soon you will see field trip forms coming home as we begin to prepare for our relocation. There will be a student survey sent out to capture student voice regarding this process. If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to your teacher or Kindred worker, to ensure all feel well supported.
Thank you to all the staff and students for a great year so far! We look forward to celebrating more success in Semester 2!!
Kindest Wishes,
Tania
